Hang in there!

This is getting to be old hat, brethren, but once again we've been SLAMMED with (day job) work. It seems like there might be another tech bubble forming out there. Not that I'm complaining mind you but all this work cuts into other stuff I like (like Masonry).

Nope, X-Oriente isn't dead. Nope it's not even in a coma. But it will undergo a few changes. First, I will be re-engineering the show to be more frequent. I was hoping that the show could be sort of like This American Life or like one of the excellent CBC (Canadian Broacasting Company) documentaries. And I was pretty pleased with the first few episodes. But the overhead is enormous. When you think about what it takes to put togehter a show, there is the writing, the planning, the booking of guests, the technical issues, the music, securing rights, the list goes on. And I am a bit of a perfectionist. I was kind of hoping I could get some production help, but none has materialized yet.

And though it may sound like it, I am not complaining. But I realize now having such an ambitious show is not moving the agenda forward. So the show will be scaled down. First I am going to eliminate most of the music. There will be theme music and some background music, but...by popular demand...the songs will go.

Next the show will be more of a discussion of topics...more like a blog and less like a documentary. I hope you can contribute by adding to the discussion. From time to time I will attempt bigger stories and guest correspondants and I am trying to line those up. This way, it can be more like a conversation. About Masonry. And how to move it forward and make it grow. Ambition is great, but as Woody Allen once said, "80% of life is showing up." to have a finely produced show once a quarter isn't as good as a shorter show more often. Do you agree?
